Have a PICTURE BOOK-idea? Or want to find one... because you always wanted to WRITE ONE!!
Over 6 weeks, we'll build a picture-book manuscript from the ground up. Moving step-by-step from ideation through drafting and revision.
We'll explore how to develop a story with KID APPEAL, craft an engaging beginning, build a middle that escalates, create a satisfying ending, write with the illustrator in mind, and revise with purpose.
Each session will combine CRAFT INSTRUCTION, MENTOR-TEXT STUDY, WRITING EXERCISES, and supportive workshop time, giving you opportunities to develop your work as you learn!
Whether you arrive with a notebook full of ideas or a blank page, the goal is to leave with a completed picture book draft. And the tools to keep making it stronger!

What students have to say...
"Panel by Panel", led by Marcie Colleen, is exactly the kind of course creators need—clear, practical, and interactive. Marcie makes the complexities of comics feel accessible and fun, using strong examples, case studies, and purposeful assignments. I am learning so much! I highly recommend this course to anyone serious about creating comics or graphic novels.

Marcie Colleen does a great job teaching. She has clear, detailed
explanations and uses plenty of examples so her students understand what
she's talking about. I highly recommend taking classes with Marcie!

No story is worth the writing, no picture worth the making, if it is not a work of imagination.
